Employee Focus- Danny Morton, Service Desk Manager

What is your name?

Danny Morton

What is your working background before AAG?

I worked at Comet as a sales assistant and then worked at KFC for a year whilst I was at college.

What is your position at AAG?

Service Desk Manager

How long have you been at AAG? And can you tell us some of the experiences throughout this journey?

I have been at AAG four years in May. I started out as a Junior School Support Engineer going to junior schools one day per week and working on any onsite issues. I then moved into implementations and worked up to being Service Delivery Manager, working on projects and ensuring customer satisfaction. In this role I worked on my customer services skills and became close to all customers I met and ensuring they were happy with the project and the service desk work after the project. I then became Service Desk Manager using these skills and managing the team to deliver a great service.

What are your hobbies/ what you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy PC gaming in my spare time as it allows me to focus on achieving goals, which then helps me focus on fulfilling goals on the desk with the team.

What is the most interesting thing about you?

I used to be a singer when I was 10, I had professional lessons and entered competitions in and around Sheffield. I also completed all 3 Duke of Edinburgh awards bronze, silver and gold.

What is your proudest moment to date?

My proudest moment to date was being in the top 3 for “Employee of the Quarter” four times, winning it once and winning “Employee of the Year 2017”. This was a really good year for me as I progressed from being a basic implementation engineer to being Service Desk Manager and acquired a lot of knowledge on the way.

If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Plain Chow Mein with Chicken in Szechuan sauce.

What is your favourite sport or activity? And why?

I love Esports (PC gaming competitions) as the games I like to play require a lot of thinking (instead of hand to eye coordination) and I love the competitive feel playing the games in tournament conditions.

Is there anything we haven’t covered that we should know about you?

I have a sleeve of tattoos on my left arm dedicated to my family.
