Saint Patrick’s has been an AAG customer since 2015, with AAG providing Managed Services including remote and onsite support, liaising with external partners such as the local authority, website hosts, broadband providers, telephone line suppliers and the supply of Saint Patrick’s IT equipment such as its IT security systems. AAG works closely with the Business Manager and IT Subject Lead to work on the Strategic 5 year IT plan.

Kathryn Fox, Business Manager, is responsible for HR, Finance, Health & Safety and Information Management, including Data Protection.

“Our IT systems are essential in the day to day running of the school. It’s vital our systems work properly as all of our registers, lunch orders and finance are all done electronically to increase efficiency. Any downtime would cause massive issues for us.

Given the nature of our work and the information we hold, it’s also vitally important our systems are secure to make sure our data is protected at all times. Compliance and data security is really important to us. With GDPR on the horizon, we wanted to make sure we had ticked all the boxes we needed to. AAG alerted me to GDPR in late 2016 and invited me to a Demystifying GDPR event with other organisations. The learning I picked up at this event enabled me to alert the board of governors and the Head Teacher about GDPR and its implications to us. It really helped us get ahead of the game in preparing for GDPR”

Kathryn continues:

“AAG facilitated a GDPR audit, where an external body comes in to help make sure we are compliant. It was a tremendous help, not only in highlighting things we need to work on but also boosting our confidence that we are taking the right steps towards compliance ready for 25th May 2018 and beyond.

The audit was very easy to arrange, and they explained things in simple terms. It didn’t feel like an Ofsted audit, but a useful chat on what we are currently doing, how we’re working and how we can improve. Any areas we were lacking they have plenty of advice and resources to point us to.

I’d recommend having a GDPR audit with AAG to anyone without hesitation.”
