“Why is my computer screen black?”
Your computer screen could be black for any number of reasons Gary. The black screen of death is usually pretty easy to repair, so let's cover a few of them now and see if we can find the problem for you.
First off, try turning the computer off and on again by pressing and holding the start button. If this doesn't fix the problem, check the back of the monitor and make sure that everything is plugged in correctly and that there is power to the computer screen.
Your monitor should have its own power light lit up and this should prove power is getting to the monitor. If it's still not working? Take another monitor and plug it into the computer to check that the problem is not hardware based in the actual computer system itself but the monitor.
