Welcoming Jake Taylor to the AAG service desk

IT service roles really do take all kinds, and we’re delighted to welcome former Head Chef, of the “Best Restaurant in Chesterfield 2019” to the AAG service desk.

Yes, that’s right, our latest Service Desk Engineer, Jake Taylor, was once an award-winning Head Chef in the hospitality industry. We’ll avoid references to how he’s used to handling tickets in a high-pressure environment (though that does come in handy, actually).

Jake joins us with extensive IT experience, having worked in the industry for the past 5 years. He began as an apprentice (after hanging up his apron) and worked his way through Level 4 in Network Infrastructure before progressing up the ranks. His reason for the career switch was largely prompted by the lockdown during COVID-19, being tired of being in the house whilst on furlough, he completed some self-led IT courses, which helped him land his apprenticeship.

It’s been really pleasing to see how quickly Jake has adapted to life at AAG; at the start of his second week here, he was sent to a client site to help address a critical incident. Jake handled it confidently and professionally throughout, with great feedback from Peter Jennings on how well he approached the work (well done, Jake!)

IT infrastructure and technology are only as strong as the people who support them. With Jake joining, we’re committed to improving our ability to deliver the responsive, reliable service our clients depend on. But unfortunately, his cooking services won’t be on offer when he’s visiting site.
